The squeegee is the tool that decides whether a wrap looks clean or covered in bubbles. It is what presses the film down, pushes the air out, and locks the vinyl onto the panel. Oshark squeegees are built for that job, with comfortable grips and edges that glide over film without scratching it. Whether you wrap for a living or you are doing your first hood, the right squeegee makes the work smoother and the finish better.
Squeegee types & what each one is for
Different parts of a car call for different squeegees, so it helps to know what each one does before you pick.
- Regular wrap squeegee. The straightforward, reliable choice for everyday wrapping. A solid all rounder for flat and gently curved panels.
- Magnetic squeegee. Fitted with strong magnets that do two jobs at once. They hold the film in place against the metal panel while you work, and they smooth it down for a clean finish, so you are not fighting the vinyl as you position it.
- 2 in 1 dual thickness squeegee. Two working edges in one tool. The thicker side applies firm pressure for strong adhesion, and the thinner side flexes into the complex curves and contours of the vehicle for better coverage.
- Wing shaped squeegee. Designed to press film neatly into built in angles and edges. Available with or without a magnet.
- Felt squeegee. A soft felt strip glides over the film and protects delicate finishes from scratches, which makes it the go to for gloss and chrome.
- Suede felt strip squeegee. A softer suede edge for gentle, low friction passes on sensitive film.
- Wool squeegee. A gentle option that applies vinyl without risking scratches on the surface.
- Triangular squeegee. Built to reach tight corners and complex curves that a standard squeegee cannot get into.
How to Use the Oshark Squeegees?
Our squeegees are shaped for a comfortable, secure grip, so you can hold them firmly and smooth out the film without straining your hand during a long job. Whatever size or shape you are using, the technique is the same. Hold the squeegee at roughly a 30 degree angle, not flat against the surface, then start from the center and work outward toward the edge. Use even, overlapping strokes and steady pressure to push out air bubbles and wrinkles as you go. Working from the middle out, rather than edge to edge, is what stops air from getting trapped under the film.
If you are using a felt edge, the same angle and pressure apply. The felt also wears down over time, so replace the strip when it starts to look flat or rough, because a worn edge can drag and leave marks.
